Every aspiring insurance professional needs to be knowledgeable of the requirements for success within the property casualty insurance industry.

During the past five years, and especially for the future, the majority of primary insurers, reinsurers, brokerages, risk management firms, independent adjusters and other stakeholders in the industry, have clarified their preference for specific candidates, by hiring candidates that either have the CIP designation or is actively pursuing the CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation.

Any individual who wishes to be a successful insurance professional, particularly anyone who aspire to management roles, will require at the minimum, a CIP designation. To significantly increase the opportunity of gaining a senior consultant or executive role, successful insurance professionals are attaining the FCIP (Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional) designation and or the CRM (Certified Risk Management) Diploma.

There are a number of post-secondary institutions that offers full-time insurance programs. Additionally, services targeted at the needs of CIP and FCIP are delivered through local divisions of the Chartered Insurance Professionals' Society.

Requirements on attaining the CIP or FCIP designation can be sourced by contacting the Insurance Institute of Canada at http://www.iic-iac.org
