Job Description
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an Underwriting Manager / Technical Specialist. The successful candidate will possess a broad range of technical underwriting and management experience, required for the effective leadership of staff and achievement of corporate goals.
Responsible for developing and maintaining quality review strategies. Provides direction and support to ensure compliance with company underwriting requirements.
Responsible for ensuring that complex underwriting issues are resolved effectively. Effectively work with various divisional heads on the identification and development of systems and tools to support underwriting operations and support corporate strategy. Provide direction and support to the divisions on underwriting matters.
Ensure underwriting quality is consistently maintained and improved through the audit process, technical training and guideline development. Ensure that the qualities of internal and external loss control services are maintained. Ensure legal compliance by maintaining a thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements.
Maintain effective development and performance management plans for all direct reporting staff, as documented by quarterly and annual performance appraisals. Ensure that effective loss control policies and procedures are in place.

Required Experience
| • | Ten (10+) years of commercial lines underwriting experience with an emphasis on property and casualty. |
| • | Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience. |
| • | Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential for optimum performance of both the managerial and technical responsibilities of this position.

| • | Must be a team player with outstanding customer service skills. |
| • | Adaptable to a changing environment. |

Educational Experience
| • | University degree or college diploma. |
